Bed & Breakfast 't Wienhoes likes to look at the past, but also focuses on the future. Hence our choice to build our Bed & To operate breakfast sustainably and ecologically.

 

Sustainability is ensuring a balance between people, the environment and the economy so as not to exhaust the earth. For now, but also for generations to come. So meeting our own needs must be in balance with what the earth can handle.

Our efforts: 

 

There are 44 solar panels on the roof that generate a lot of electricity every year and thus provide our B&B with sustainable power.

 

Where possible, the building is fully insulated (roof, double glazing, HR heating), taking into account its monumental character.

 

A water tap from krnwtr+ has been installed in the horse stable. krnwtr+ is a social enterprise. Founded in 2010 by two friends who wanted an alternative to packaged water and soft drinks, without the aftertaste of waste and transport. More than 400 krnwtr+ taps have already been installed in the Netherlands. This saves an average amount of plastic water bottles! 

 

At breakfast we serve a vegetarian option as standard, in addition to meat toppings and cheese.

 

We try to buy our products locally as much as possible, for example cheese from the farm shop, meat from the local butcher in the village, Limburg syrup from the Wiertz syrup distillery or bread from the bakery next door. 

 

Join the other guests to help save the environment. Nearly 75% of our guests who we ask to participate by using their towels more than once do so. You can join them by using the towels a second time and saving the environment.

 

All waste is separated. We strive to produce as little waste as possible. Your help is needed. 

 

We have a vegetable garden where vegetables and herbs grow for the B&B. There are also berry bushes and apple and cherry trees in the garden. We make our own jam from this after the harvest
